A narrow road in Italy calls for a scooter. Nothing else will do.
When a friend of my CouchSurfing host in Pompei offered to take me around the Amalfi Coast on his scooter, I was thrilled.
He called up the morning of our planned trip to tell me the weather didn’t look so good so we would go by car instead. Instantly, I was gutted.
Somehow, I convinced him the weather would brighten up once we got to the coast (it did) and soon, we were off and scooting along, passing humongous tour buses far too large for the narrow, windy road hugging the coastline. With the wind in my hair and the sunshine on my face, I had the time of my life.
We flew around the Sorrento Peninsula with few necessary stops for gelato, a break on a beach and too many photo stops to count.
